UPDF in charge of finals series with Nam Blazers

The UPDF Tomahawks are one win away from Division One Championship glory. Last night the Tomahawks pulled off an emphatic 70-50 game three victory against Namuwongo Blazers to take the best of five series advantage(2-1).

The Tomahawks were in control for the most part of the game going 21-12 in Q1, and going into halftime with a 13pts advantage at 38-25. The Blazers did little to change the game in the Q3, instead the Tomahawks going on a run and outscoring the Blazers in the quarter 18-8. Blazers final push in Q4 was just enough to make sure they only lose by a 20pts margin.

Peter Senfuka was the anchor for the Tomahawks going off for 20 pts on the night including 5 of 10 shooting behind the three-arc. Moses Muhumuza added 14pts while Felix Mukunzi added 11pts. Looking closely, the Tomahawks starters combined for 52pts of the total 70pts scored in the game.

The Blazers starters scored only 27pts with Chol Nyuot the only Blazer in double digits with 12pts. Scorers Vicent Yiki and Ruai Luak were a no show as both combined for only 8pts with each scoring 4pts.

Blazers continued to miss Center Forward Peter Cheng who despite being cleared to play after missing game two with a wrist injury, couldn’t be available becauseu he is sitting his UCE exams. Ruai is equally said to not be at his best because of exam stress – he is also sitting his UCE exams at KIbuli Secondary School.

With UPDF keeping their foot on the gas the way they have in the last two games, Blazers will need to pull something out of their bag in response. Game four will be played next Saturday alongside game Four of the Division II finals series between Kampala Rockets and Entebbe Archers. Rockets lead the series 2-1.
